Secure Authorize.net Payment Gateway
Authorize.Net® offers a secure online payment-processing connection method that allows Internet-based businesses to authorize, process, and manage credit card transactions directly and automatically from a website.
Advanced Integration Method (AIM) uses secure sockets layer (SSL) digital certificate technology to connect securely and directly to the Payment Gateway-achieving the highest security for the Internet connection between a merchant and the gateway.
AIM provides the highest levels of secure transaction infrastructure available to merchants building an Ecommerce business and directly connecting their website to the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway.
When using AIM to connect to the Payment Gateway, a customer enters purchase information (e.g., name, credit card number, etc.) into a payment form on the merchant's website. This payment form is hosted either by the merchant, or the merchant may choose to use Authorize.Net's securely hosted, customizable payment form.
When the customer clicks to submit his or her purchase information, payment information is encrypted using 128-bit SSL technology and sent to an Authorize.Net transaction server. The server sends the data through the authorization network to the appropriate card issuer's bank, using a secure, proprietary connection. When the authorization process is complete-this takes around five seconds-the customer receives an approval or decline response, and the Authorize.Net server stores the transaction. Approved transactions are automatically settled each day and are typically funded within two to three business days.
Merchants can check the status of current transactions submitted directly from their website or run reports on past transaction activity by going to the Authorize.Net Corporate site and logging into their own password-protected Merchant Interface. Online businesses also can use the Authorize.Net Virtual Terminal feature of their Merchant Interface account to enter payment information manually if customers prefer to call in their credit card information.
1. The customer places an order with the merchant via the website.
2. Authorize.Net receives the transaction via the Internet, securely encrypts it, and submits an authorization request to the customer's Credit Card Issuer to verify both the account and funds availability.
3. The authorization (or decline) response is returned via Authorize.Net to the merchant. Round trip this process averages less than 3 seconds.
4. Upon approval, the merchant records the donation request.
5. Authorize.Net sends the settlement request to the Merchant Account Provider.
6. The Merchant Account Provider deposits settlement funds into the merchant's account.
eCheck.Net is an AuthorizeNet payment service that allows online and traditional merchants to accept and process electronic check payments -- either directly from their Web site's storefront or through the Authorize.Net Virtual Terminal.
eCheck.Net makes it easy for online businesses to add an electronic check payment option to their Web site. Customers who wish to pay for a purchase with an electronic check can simply select the electronic check option and enter the requested bank account information.
Traditional merchants without commerce-enabled Web sites can also use eCheck.Net to handle periodic billings. Businesses such as health clubs, tanning salons, subscription services, ISPs, membership companies, and health care practitioners are typical examples of businesses that need the ability to periodically deduct funds from their customers' checking accounts. Of course, customer approval is always recommended, and merchants must sign a separate eCheck.Net ACH agreement to perform these types of transactions.
*The Automated Clearing House is the electronic network which transfers and clears funds between banking institutions on behalf of merchants and their customers. Each transaction takes approximately 48 hours to clear, and we strongly suggest that merchants wait five days from the initial transaction date before shipping any goods. This leaves two days to debit the consumer's account, two days to deposit the funds into the merchant's account, and one day for the bank to post the transaction. Because of this unavoidable delay, eCheck.Net should NOT be used by merchants who sell soft or digital goods that are normally downloaded immediately upon completion of the sale.
