Designing for the web is a complex process. Not only does the layout have to communicate the site's message effectively, it must do so in such a manner that information can be easily accessed from anywhere on the site. Pages must download quickly, which often limits the size and quality of images. Different browsers and operating systems render the layout differently, and the web site code must strike a careful balance to have a consistent look among them. We have a great deal of real-world experience, and we put great effort into making our clients' web sites the most effective communication tools possible for their particular needs.
Would your on-line business be reenergized by having your web site redesigned?
Sometimes an existing web site just isn't as professional or as effective as it could be. It's nothing to be ashamed of -- it's the nature of the internet. Things change so quickly that the paradigms with which we surfed the web just five years ago are almost obsolete. As we continue to move forward in this still burgeoning medium, the efficiency and effectiveness with which we communicate to web site visitors continues to find new means to their end. We can help you achieve a contemporary, effective online presence at a portion of the cost of a new web site.
For example, after five years with the same look and feel, the Long Beach Scottish Rite approached us to redesign their web site. To maintain continuity and the site's identity, we used a similar color scheme as their existing site. In redesigning, we provided them with:
Would your company's identity be reinforced by a web site that was designed to coordinate your corporate image?
A national manufacturer of custom fine furniture engaged us to design and develop an Internet web site in which to display their catalog. The current web site contains over 1000 furniture item pages plus supporting content. The page layout for each item includes photos that were scanned from their printed catalog along with specifications and links to other related items, options, and finishes.
Recently, we also created a CD version of their entire
catalog that can be viewed and searched without an Internet connection.
Do your visitors get frustrated searching for content on your web site because the navigation hasn't kept up with the changes you've made?
A web site's navigation must be intuitive, consistent, and unobtrusive. It must allow the visitor to visualize the contents of the site without having to traverse every link. Especially with larger sites, an intelligent navigation scheme can mean all the difference between success and failure.
Torrance Memorial Medical Center has over 400 pages of consumer-oriented healthcare content available at their web site. We provided them with a dynamic HTML navigation system which allows visitors to easily access any section of the site. When rolled over with the mouse, main menu items spawn submenus, which disappear when the mouse is removed. This allows a very large number of links to be displayed to the user without taking up valuable screen real estate. And since the navigational elements are available site-wide, visitors can navigate at any point in their visit.
The imagery on a web site sets the tone and underlying theme of the visitor's experience. It is important to have a consistent visual style across the site, so as not to confuse or disorient the visitor. We design every web site with this in mind. Whether using stock photography or custom-illustrated imagery, we will create a cohesive look throughout your web site.
Would your clients find more benefits from using your web site if its design was consistent with your printed collateral?
Studio photography, printed brochure artwork, technical illustrations, logos, line art, digital camera images can all be utilized on a web site to convey the author's message. We are very experienced at preparing artwork for the web.
In this example, the client provided us with Pagemaker files that represented their existing print brochure.
We extracted the photos and text from those Pagemaker files and designed a web site that reflected their corporate image, color scheme and style.
Would your advertising message be conveyed more completely using animated banner Ads?
Banner Ads are a staple design element of many web sites and convey a message that is hopefully of interest to the reader. Its standard size allows these Banners to be displayed at the top or bottom of almost any web page. These ads may either be composed of one static image or multiple animated images to present the message. Most ads can be clicked on to redirect the reader to a web page that expands on the ad's message.
Animating art is both eye-catching and focuses the reader on a section of a web page that may link them to a call to action or a special feature. Animating art can also be employed to present multiple images automatically in a small space like a slide show.
Would seeing a slideshow of your products or services enable customers to better understand your company's capabilities?
The number of uses for a slideshow image presentation are almost limitless. Whether you wish to display a slowly fading sequence of your latest products or a quick sequence of images to attract attention, we can utilize any number of techniques to create just the effect you envision.
This particular montage was developed for Digestive Care Consultants.
Would your prospective customers be impressed with seeing your facilities?
We can develop animated virtual tours of any office or building. Take them on an animated trip through your facilities to let them see for themselves what's in store.
South Bay Surgeons is a surgical group in Torrance and San Pedro, CA. They were proud of their nicely appointed facilities, so When we redesigned their site, they expressed interest in showing site visitors their suite of offices and rooms. This served to acquaint the potential client with the center and help them feel more comfortable with seeing the surgeons.
Flash is a versatile technology for the animation and display of information and images. Fades, movement, motion blur, all can be achieved using Flash. Flash is unique in that it is a format with incredibly low file sizes, which allows for quick downloads. For larger Flash files, we can create progress bars to indicate what percentage of the file is loaded, or display effects or messages targeted specifically at high- or low-bandwidth users. Flash can even include audio tracks with volume and pan controls, stop and play buttons, and smooth, fluid animation.
But Flash is more than just pure eye candy. Through scripting, we can allow visitors to interact with the Flash movie in all manner of ways - whether based on the position of the mouse, the key combinations pressed, or even at what stage in the navigation of the site they have reached. Depending on the conditions, their experience may be altered to accomodate those conditions.
Would the value or capabilities of your product(s) be more easily appreciated if your customers could use them freely in an interactive visual setting?
This project for Field Management Services was to visually demonstrate the value of their services. FMS does electromagnetic shielding for offices, medical centers, and computer centers, where an EMF-free environment is necessary. We designed this interactive demonstration to show visitors how much they could benefit from electromagnetic shielding.
Using complex scripting, we created a virtual EMF detector with an accompanying digital display and bar chart indicating the magnitude of the EMF being detected. The visitor may click on the detector wand and drag it about the room to see how high the levels are at any given point in the room. Then, by clicking "Implement FMS Shielding?", the visitor can see a virtual shielding take place and see an immediate drop in electromagnetic interference.
Contact forms, requests for brochures, and reservations forms are all opportunities to ask qualifying questions. These questions may present options in the form of drop-down lists, radio buttons, check boxes or input fields. Any fields on any form may be validated before the data is sent to make sure required fields have been filled out. Form field values can even be pre-populated with a user's information, for example, if they are logged into your web site.
Are your customers satisfied with your products or services? Ask them...
Concerned about customer satisfaction? Why not give them a way to tell you exacly what kind of experience they had. A satisfaction survey is an expression to your site's visitors that the quality of their experience matters to you. And because they can submit it online in a very short amount of time, they are apt to give you honest, direct answers -- and those answers will reach you instantly.
We implemented a Patient Satisfaction Survey on Pioneer Medical Group's web site for them to collect patient opinion on the quality of services they received while under the care of PMG physicians.
